WHY I STOPPED WATCHING THAT BULL SHIT
So in January, I did a media cleanse where I stopped being on social media. I started 2017 on the right foot, no stress or drama, just peace and quiet..or so I thought. I replaced reading my timelines with reading the news and i must say , it was actually pretty similar to being on socia media. Trump was in the midst of being inaugurated. It was downright depressing.
Once I joined social media again, I noticed an influx of police brutality videos. Cops have been “smelling their draws” a lot more. It is downright embarrassing. I want to say around May, I stopped watching those videos as well. It was not because I was afraid of the truth or anything, it was because I felt my depression and fear rise the more I watch it. These videos were not making me mad or filling me with rage, they were actually making me fearful to leave my home, to go to work or just hang out with my family. I stayed in bed more, I became antisocial, but I did not notice it.
I was allowing the world and what i saw in this country, dim my light and in all honesty, WE CAN NOT DO THAT. We have to be strong and conquer those inner battles and show this country that we are a lot stronger than what they think. So I stopped talking about Trump, I stopped watching those police brutality videos. I started reading more self help books, I started hitting the gym more, I forced myself to be more social, I moved to a part of the city where I felt comfortable. It felt great! My energy was not as depressing, I became happy. BLACK BOY JOY is the one power source that this world was never ready for. So Brothers, go out there, turn off that negative and turn on your positive light. We need it as men, your mothers need it, you sisters need it, your daughters need it, your wives need it, the world needs it. They want us to give up and we can not let them win.
